Children who get schooled at home are protected from these damaging negative influences till they reach an age where they can handle it. Homeschooling draws the whole family into the almost religious task of schooling. Everyone is put to work. The parents together form a bond with the children. Any experience can be turned into an educational experience. Both the parents are aware of exactly what is going into their child’s head. Parents also have greater control on the kind of religious and moral values that the child imbibes. Even watching a movie together can become a learning experience. This week we were shown properties in Paphos by Nick an agent for Pafilia property developers. The agent is very knowledgable and knows his stock well.
He listened to our needs and showed us exactly what we are looking for. We made a shortlist of five three bedroom apartments in and arround Paphos.
What amazed me was the quality of projects we visited, it seems that they take great care in the construction and landscaping of their property developments.
The boys loved the swimming pools in each of the property developments we were shown.
We have started our negotiation process and should secure a favourable sales prices next week.
I will from time to time post our progress as we move through the buying process.

LUCIANA: I started with swimwear because I think it was missing good styles for all kinds of bodies. On the beach it’s only your body in your bikini and sometimes you are one size on top and another size on the bottom. In Brazil we had a revolution where many women got silicone breast implants. So it was impossible to find a size that will be good for the top and bottom. Then we created mix and match styles for Brazilians that don’t have this and they love it. I make every swimsuit to show the best part of body and hide the worst parts.Women need to be confident at the beach. Women that are mothers need more support. We create bikinis thinking of all kinds of bodies. This is one the reasons for our success .

Buying a fridge is not an everyday purchase and one may feel just that little bit more comfortable about it, once reminded of a few “buy basics”.   Memories do have the nasty habit to fade, over time.

Available space and “fridge-needs” dictate.   Obvious, but it still brings a number of easily forgotten points to the fore.   Do know the exact dimensions of the available space and here, it is important to remember that too close a “fit” is not ideal.   Fridges do require ventilation and as a general rule of thumb, openings of 1 cm on both sides and the top, and an opening of between 1,5 cm to 2 cm, at the back, are required. Fridge sizes are listed with product offerings, in our online shop.

It is the little things in life that make the real difference and this principle applies equally to the interior lay-out of a fridge.   Care should be taken with the combination of fridge/freezer compartment sizes.   A  larger FRIDGE size should be the better choice, when regular shopping is the norm, there is a preference for fresh produce and bottles are stored in large quantities, whilst the FREEZER compartment is mainly used for storing frozen vegetables, ice cream, ice cubes and the likes.   However, if the emphasis is on bulk buying and frozen foods, a bigger freezer compartment must be the preferred choice.   Glass shelves have the advantage over wire shelving, when it comes to cleaning.   Easy and quick, that’s glass shelving… and improved functioning of the fridge through the necessary process of circulation, comes with wire shelving.   In most instances and for the benefit of satisfying both these practical points, manufacturers tend to opt for a mixed use of these two shelf types.

lA number of further features such as, child locks, bottle racks (permanent or removable), deep door storage for bottles, smaller storage compartments (drawers or containers) to separate and to prevent cross-contamination, self-closing doors to prevent frost and also damage to the fridge/contents, water dispensers, open door alarms, temperature warning alarms for when temperature rises to unacceptable levels, are model dependent and may or may not be available.   Frost-free or auto-defrost can be an inclusive feature, but if not, do remember that you decide and set the temperature at which a fridges operates and this, the correct temperature setting, as advised in the operating manual, is the real answer to frost problems.

However, these further features, if available, do come at a price.   Keeping to the basics are often all that is required – do you really, really … need a fridge that gives you internet connectivity?

Energy efficiency is certainly relevant today and fridge manufacturers rate products for energy efficiency. Ratings may take the form of a grading from ‘A+’ to ‘G’, with grade ‘A+’ identifying the most efficient fridge type, or a star-rating system, with the most efficient assigned the highest number of stars.   The rating of a fridge usually appears on the back of a fridge.

Just in – received this in an email.

It’s hard for us to get clear information about what is going on at the moment – have bits and pieces from the internet and TV and word of mouth which I kind of pieced together.

It definitely seems like the worst is behind us – the military and extra police from Auckland have come to the city and are securing the CBD tonight in case any more buildings collapse there. I haven’t seen a lot of the CBD, because most of the damaged streets were already cordoned off when I went to town today. Have just seen a few photos and heard stories from friends, so don’t know how much of it is exaggerated. There is certainly a lot of rubble around. The police have instituted a curfew tonight from 7pm to 7am – again we are not really sure if this is the whole city or just the CBD, but they said they could arrest people who were found on the streets, so we are not leaving the house just to be on the safe side.

No fire in the city anymore as far as I know, the biggest issue is trying to get the sewage system working. Apparently because treatment plants have shut down there is now raw sewage being pumped into the river that flows throughout the whole city. Earlier they were talking about using the river water to supply water to the city, so I don’t know. We don’t know if our water is safe to drink, and whether we are allowed to wash or showers. There seems to be plenty of water in our taps, so I don’t really understand why they are saying so much about a water shortage. We have just been told several times to save water as much as we can and not flush toilets. Hopefully in the morning we will have a clearer picture of what is happening.

Phone and internet are still working, don’t know if this is the case for the whole city. Last I heard they had restored power to 90% of the city earlier this evening. Cellphone towers were running on battery power earlier today, and the networks were overloaded, but they seem better now. They keep saying not to use cellphones or leave the house unless it is an emergency, but of course it’s hard to not call your friends and family!
