Author – Furniture Shops in Cyprus – Review – Extendable Tables – Completed on 23rd September 2010 – Cyprus Furniture Shops
Furniture Shops in Cyprus brings you a selection furniture, accessories and appliances of quality, style and durability. Extendible tables are included in our furniture range.
An extendible table – is a truly, but often forgotten, home friendly piece of furniture.
With the decision to buy a table, available space and style immediately come to mind. With these considerations firmly in mind, the focus shifts to the search for and finding of the desirable table. In the process, choice considerations, such as wood type, colour, fabric used on the chairs and more, are added and in this maize of thoughts, the practicality of marrying need with space, gets consigned to the “… and how could I forget ?” realisation, when it is too late.
With years of experience, we at Furniture Shops In Cyprus believe that our clients must also enjoy the benefit of such hard earned knowledge, hence the inclusion of practical features in our range of choices. The availability of extendible tables is an example of this practice and many more such examples can be found in our product ranges, whether furniture, accessories or appliances.
Extendible tables are often seen as an ungainly compromise and therefore not a viable alternative in the style and quality stakes. However, we beg to differ and our selection of these versatile tables, in-keeping with our quality, style and durability standards, is proof of that conviction. September 20th, 2010 | Author Furniture Shops In Cyprus – Review – Choosing A Fridge – Completed on 20th September 2010 – Cyprus Furniture Shops
Buying a fridge is not an everyday purchase and one may feel just that little bit more comfortable about it, once reminded of a few “buy basics”. Memories do have the nasty habit to fade, over time.
Available space and “fridge-needs” dictate. Obvious, but it still brings a number of easily forgotten points to the fore. Do know the exact dimensions of the available space and here, it is important to remember that too close a “fit” is not ideal. Fridges do require ventilation and as a general rule of thumb, openings of 1 cm on both sides and the top, and an opening of between 1,5 cm to 2 cm, at the back, are required. Fridge sizes are listed with product offerings, in our online shop.
It is the little things in life that make the real difference and this principle applies equally to the interior lay-out of a fridge. Care should be taken with the combination of fridge/freezer compartment sizes. A larger FRIDGE size should be the better choice, when regular shopping is the norm, there is a preference for fresh produce and bottles are stored in large quantities, whilst the FREEZER compartment is mainly used for storing frozen vegetables, ice cream, ice cubes and the likes. However, if the emphasis is on bulk buying and frozen foods, a bigger freezer compartment must be the preferred choice. Glass shelves have the advantage over wire shelving, when it comes to cleaning. Easy and quick, that’s glass shelving… and improved functioning of the fridge through the necessary process of circulation, comes with wire shelving. In most instances and for the benefit of satisfying both these practical points, manufacturers tend to opt for a mixed use of these two shelf types.
lA number of further features such as, child locks, bottle racks (permanent or removable), deep door storage for bottles, smaller storage compartments (drawers or containers) to separate and to prevent cross-contamination, self-closing doors to prevent frost and also damage to the fridge/contents, water dispensers, open door alarms, temperature warning alarms for when temperature rises to unacceptable levels, are model dependent and may or may not be available. Frost-free or auto-defrost can be an inclusive feature, but if not, do remember that you decide and set the temperature at which a fridges operates and this, the correct temperature setting, as advised in the operating manual, is the real answer to frost problems.
However, these further features, if available, do come at a price. Keeping to the basics are often all that is required – do you really, really … need a fridge that gives you internet connectivity?
Energy efficiency is certainly relevant today and fridge manufacturers rate products for energy efficiency. Ratings may take the form of a grading from ‘A+’ to ‘G’, with grade ‘A+’ identifying the most efficient fridge type, or a star-rating system, with the most efficient assigned the highest number of stars. The rating of a fridge usually appears on the back of a fridge.
Do visit our online shop at http://www.furnitureshopsincyprus.com/ when in need of a fridge and compare our offerings against your list of buy basics.

September 15th, 2010 | Author – Furniture Shops In Cyprus – Review – Buying A Bed – Completed on 15th September 2010 – Furniture Shops in Cyprus
For most, buying a bed starts with a decision based on health and comfort considerations and ends with a reflection on size and perhaps, style.
An approach, whereby the purchase of a bed is based on these criteria, cannot be faulted. However and like with so many other decisions in life, this particular purchase decision can also be a source of those irritating “ … and why didn’t I think of that !!!” moments.
Yes! – a base and mattress set is compact and it all gets covered-up and protected, one way or another. Except, for the fact that we live in Cyprus and need to make provision for the ever present difficulties of moisture or “damp”.
An unrestricted circulation of air between floor and mattress is the only passive and overall, effective means whereby one can minimise the build-up of moisture in a mattress. Therefore and in the Cyprus context, this particular aspect of bed design also requires careful consideration.
Base and mattress sets, or divans, as well as bed sets of an “enclosed” base design, either make no allowance for air circulation or at best, only for a very limited through-flow of air. Enclosed base designs refer to bed-sets in which the under-mattress space is used for drawers, a pull-out bed, or a recessed mattress, of the bunk-bed variety. Often, a solid sheet of wood, rather than slates, is used as mattress support and that, as with a divan, prevents air from reaching the mattress, altogether.
At Furniture Shops In Cyprus, all bed sets provide for this particular design requirement, as well as all the conventional requirements, such as health, comfort, style, size and quality.
Do visit our online shop at http://furnitureshopsincyprus.com/ and see that our beds also allow for the easy and effortless cleaning of the under-bed area, that other little reality of Cyprus – dust!!!, the ever present dust.

Casualty Corner!!! REAL VALUE FOR MONEY!!! Let this be you’re first port of call in our online shop.
In the site menu, on you’re left, browse down to “Product Categories” and click on “Casualty Corner”. In this section, you will find our new home for products that fell victim to human error – the “I didn’t know … I’m sorry” – error variety.
In the retail environment and due to human nature, such casualties do occur. Fortunately, it seldom involves more than a piece or two and damage is more often than not, limited to a minor mark or scratch. Some, however, are of a more serious nature and will not survive scrutiny at all, whilst the rest may have suffered varying degrees of calamity.
As with so many things in life, the state of the damage is in the eye of the beholder and at an acceptable price, the purchase of a casualty item may well be seen as a real value for money purchase. Clients, familiar with our exceptional design and manufacturing standards, often wish to capitalise on those qualities with a casualty item and enquiries are not uncommon.
Therefore and to make easier for all those who are interested … do pay a visit to Casualty Corner at http://www.furnitureshopsincyprus.com/… and do pay attention to the captions for accurate descriptions on the state of the items.

September 10th, 2010 | Author Furniture Shops In Cyprus – Review – Talking Oak Furniture – Completed on 25th September 2010 – Cyprus Furniture Shops
Oak is an extremely durable wood and because of exactly that quality, furniture pieces from oak wood remains a favourite amongst antique furniture collectors. Solid wood oak furniture, if well made and well cared for, will last you a lifetime and will always represent good value for money.
The maintenance of oak furniture is not an involved affair, but still necessary, as with all things we value. As with most solid wood products, oak also requires periodic polishing and to do so every 4 to 6 months, is acceptable. It is well worth the trouble to maintain a fairly steady level of humidity, to counter splitting and warping of the wood and here, a few plants in the room take care of that. In addition, do remember that solid wood is real wood and not water friendly. Coasters remains the best friend of a cared for piece of furniture.
The white solid wood furniture suites and pieces available from Furniture Shops In Cyprus are exclusive, represents a range of design styles, including contemporary designs and bears the mark of quality – furniture to value and be at ease with. The German oak is of an excellent quality, kiln dried and manufactured to a very high standard, to withstand the effect of constant temperature changes in warmer climates. And here, Cyprus comes to mind.
WITH ALL OF THIS IN MIND, DO VISIT OUR ONLINE SHOP AT http://www.furnitureshopsincyprus.com/

Just in – received this in an email.
It’s hard for us to get clear information about what is going on at the moment – have bits and pieces from the internet and TV and word of mouth which I kind of pieced together.
It definitely seems like the worst is behind us – the military and extra police from Auckland have come to the city and are securing the CBD tonight in case any more buildings collapse there. I haven’t seen a lot of the CBD, because most of the damaged streets were already cordoned off when I went to town today. Have just seen a few photos and heard stories from friends, so don’t know how much of it is exaggerated. There is certainly a lot of rubble around. The police have instituted a curfew tonight from 7pm to 7am – again we are not really sure if this is the whole city or just the CBD, but they said they could arrest people who were found on the streets, so we are not leaving the house just to be on the safe side.
No fire in the city anymore as far as I know, the biggest issue is trying to get the sewage system working. Apparently because treatment plants have shut down there is now raw sewage being pumped into the river that flows throughout the whole city. Earlier they were talking about using the river water to supply water to the city, so I don’t know. We don’t know if our water is safe to drink, and whether we are allowed to wash or showers. There seems to be plenty of water in our taps, so I don’t really understand why they are saying so much about a water shortage. We have just been told several times to save water as much as we can and not flush toilets. Hopefully in the morning we will have a clearer picture of what is happening.
Phone and internet are still working, don’t know if this is the case for the whole city. Last I heard they had restored power to 90% of the city earlier this evening. Cellphone towers were running on battery power earlier today, and the networks were overloaded, but they seem better now. They keep saying not to use cellphones or leave the house unless it is an emergency, but of course it’s hard to not call your friends and family!
We will try and keep you posted visit: http://azworldpages.com/newzealandquake2010/
