Furniture Shops in Cyprus Talks Oak Furniture

Friday, September 10th, 2010

September 10th, 2010 | Author Furniture Shops In Cyprus – Review – Talking Oak Furniture – Completed on 25th September 2010 – Cyprus Furniture Shops

Oak is an extremely durable wood and because of exactly that quality, furniture pieces from oak wood remains a favourite amongst antique furniture collectors. Solid wood oak furniture, if well made and well cared for, will last you a lifetime and will always represent good value for money.

The maintenance of oak furniture is not an involved affair, but still necessary, as with all things we value. As with most solid wood products, oak also requires periodic polishing and to do so every 4 to 6 months, is acceptable. It is well worth the trouble to maintain a fairly steady level of humidity, to counter splitting and warping of the wood and here, a few plants in the room take care of that. In addition, do remember that solid wood is real wood and not water friendly. Coasters remains the best friend of a cared for piece of furniture.

The white solid wood furniture suites and pieces available from Furniture Shops In Cyprus are exclusive, represents a range of design styles, including contemporary designs and bears the mark of quality – furniture to value and be at ease with. The German oak is of an excellent quality, kiln dried and manufactured to a very high standard, to withstand the effect of constant temperature changes in warmer climates. And here, Cyprus comes to mind.

WITH ALL OF THIS IN MIND, DO VISIT OUR ONLINE SHOP AT http://www.furnitureshopsincyprus.com/

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Limassol Marina Laying of foundation stone

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

On Tuesday 7 September, an impressive ceremony was held in Limassol for the laying of the foundation stone of Limassol Marina by his Excellency, the President of the Republic, Mr Demetris Christofias. The ceremony was attended by the city’s official authorities, personalities from the world of business and commerce and a large number of invited guests. The blessing was given by his Grace, Limassol Metropolitan Bishop Athanasios.

The ceremony was opened by the Chairman of the Board of Limassol Marina Ltd, Mr Marios E. Lanitis, who spoke on behalf of the Board of Directors: “I wish to express our sense of honour, pride and responsibility at the fact that we have undertaken this groundbreaking project, a milestone for the Cyprus economy, with a total investment of close to 350 million euros. Limassol Marina is, to us and all those working with us,   the practical implementation of our vision for the development of marine recreation and the island’s infrastructure as a whole. The Company has undertaken to complete the project within the set time frame and by the end of 2012 Limassol Marina will be ready to welcome the first yachts to its berths”. Mr Lanitis went on to thank the President of the Republic for the Government’s assistance and contribution towards the completion of the process so far, with special thanks to the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mr Antonis Paschalides. He also thanked the Board of Limassol Marina Ltd, the company’s legal advisers, the Bank of Cyprus, the Project Consultants and finally, all those who honoured the ceremony with their presence.

The President of the Republic, Mr Demetris Christofias then gave his address, saying among other things:

«Large-scale development projects will pave the way out of the economic crisis. This is a commitment that our policies have long supported and one that we are dedicated to fulfilling.  Today, I lay the Limassol Marina foundation stone, a large-scale development project that responds to our policies and makes a significant contribution to overall regeneration and modernisation efforts in the city of Limassol. Today we are witnesses to the commencement of a project that will create jobs, enrich our tourism and reposition Cyprus as a premium yachting destination.

»Marina projects are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2012, making it possible to welcome the first yachts during Cyprus’ assumption of the E.U presidency during the second quarter of the same year.  “We are aware that the world tourism environment is particularly competitive and that only destinations that invest in their product stand the test of time. Expediting the execution of tourist infrastructure projects and enrichment products is a high priority issue for us.

The President concluded: «I would like to congratulate all those who made it possible and contributed to the launch of the Marina’s construction and I hope that other tourism-related projects will shortly be underway. »

Work for the construction of Limassol Marina is already under way and progressing rapidly. The exclusive waterfront development has been designed by a world-renowned team or architects and engineers. It combines elegant residences and a state-of-the-art marina with an enticing mix of boutiques, restaurants and shops, to create a lifestyle uniquely shaped by ‘living on the sea’.

Estimated to cost more than 350 million euros and providing facilities and services of the highest standard, it can accommodate all types of vessels from sailing yachts to megayachts, ranging in length from 8m to 100m.

Just a stroll away from the heart of the city, Limassol Marina is designed to blend seamlessly with the old harbour, the town’s historic centre and the medieval castle. It is destined to become the most exclusive marina resort in the Mediterranean- and one of the finest in the world.

A reception was held after the ceremony.

BEATING THE WINTER CHILL AT DINNER TIME …… with Furniture Shops in Cyprus

Colder evenings will be upon us soon with dining indoors, the norm.   But hey, sitting-down at the dinner table when it’s cold outside has its own “special” warmth to it.   The warmth of being indoors, of sharing a smaller space, of sharing a meal and above-all, of being together.

So, colder weather does have its little up-sides when it all is put together, just right.   The indoors and a smaller space are the easy bits, the meal takes centre stage and those to share, well one can always invite a friend or two.   Togetherness – that’s the more difficult part, human nature and all that.   But with those most humble of furniture pieces, a table and a chair, or better still, the right table and chairs, it is easier, much easier ….. and the beauty of it, they work their charm, every time.

The “how-to” of a dining setting can also be something of a challenge and here; the solution starts with the availability of a range of options and choices.

With Furniture Shops in Cyprus you have those options, choices and, so much more.   Online shopping means shopping in a store that never closes, as well as effortless shopping in the comfort of you’re choosing, anywhere in the world, at all times.   That, without those irritating “getting to” and “being inside a shop” chores, plus lots of “let me see again” opportunities at click, does make online shopping the sensible alternative and when you do it at Furniture Shops in Cyprus, you gain the further benefits of real value for money purchases, easy and secure ordering, a safe and secure payment practice and hassle-free deliveries.

Therefore, do visit http://www.furnitureshopsincyprus.com/ for that not so old boring table

and chairs and who knows, you may well be tempted by so much more!!!

Latest New Zealand Quake 2010

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Just in – received this in an email.

It’s hard for us to get clear information about what is going on at the moment – have bits and pieces from the internet and TV and word of mouth which I kind of pieced together.

It definitely seems like the worst is behind us – the military and extra police from Auckland have come to the city and are securing the CBD tonight in case any more buildings collapse there. I haven’t seen a lot of the CBD, because most of the damaged streets were already cordoned off when I went to town today. Have just seen a few photos and heard stories from friends, so don’t know how much of it is exaggerated. There is certainly a lot of rubble around. The police have instituted a curfew tonight from 7pm to 7am – again we are not really sure if this is the whole city or just the CBD, but they said they could arrest people who were found on the streets, so we are not leaving the house just to be on the safe side.

No fire in the city anymore as far as I know, the biggest issue is trying to get the sewage system working. Apparently because treatment plants have shut down there is now raw sewage being pumped into the river that flows throughout the whole city. Earlier they were talking about using the river water to supply water to the city, so I don’t know. We don’t know if our water is safe to drink, and whether we are allowed to wash or showers. There seems to be plenty of water in our taps, so I don’t really understand why they are saying so much about a water shortage. We have just been told several times to save water as much as we can and not flush toilets. Hopefully in the morning we will have a clearer picture of what is happening.

Phone and internet are still working, don’t know if this is the case for the whole city. Last I heard they had restored power to 90% of the city earlier this evening. Cellphone towers were running on battery power earlier today, and the networks were overloaded, but they seem better now. They keep saying not to use cellphones or leave the house unless it is an emergency, but of course it’s hard to not call your friends and family!

We will try and keep you posted visit: http://azworldpages.com/newzealandquake2010/
